Pumpkin Pies (2015) The project that I was a part of helping with during my Sophomore year was centered around providing food for individuals in need. For this project, my group and I spent two days making 60 pumpkin pies for Spirit of Life's Mother Theresa Outreach Program. These pies were later given to people for them to help celebrate Thanksgiving with a full meal. This was a very enjoyable experience. I was able to work alongside some great people in order to help support a good charity. Through this, I learned that very simple things, like a home cooked pie, can bring joy to a family’s day.
SNDU (2016-Present) For the past year, I have been participating in the meeting and activities put on by SNDU. As of a few months ago, I was voted to be the Secretary of the group. I am excited to see what different leadership opportunists this organization will provide for me. Not only are there a variety of different opportunities for me to develop my professional skills there are also opportunities for me to serve others through various projects.
Spaghetti Benefit Dinner (2017) For this year’s fundraiser, I had the opportunity to lead a group. This was an incredible leadership development opportunity for me. I was in charge of planning, preparing, and cooking food for the Spaghetti Benefit Dinner for Camp Grassick. All together I had a hard-working team to support me through the whole process and help in order to get the job done. From planning, prepping, to the day of the event they were always willing to take part in the task and get the job done. I was so lucky to be able to take on this role as well as have such great servant leaders to help me follow through with the task. This experience really helped me to learn that in order to reach the end goal there need to be solid teamwork and collaboration. Within my group, I saw many members go above and beyond what they were asked to do. Along with other team members stepping in when needed. For this reason, we were able to follow through with our event and raise money for the campers at Camp Grassick.
